The AIIA’s National Conference is Australia’s premier event on Australian foreign policy. The 2019 National Conference provides a unique opportunity to hear and engage directly with experts on Australia’s international affairs. The day will bring together some of Australia's leading international affairs experts across four sessions examining new developments in international affairs and Australia's place in a changing world.
The 2019 National Conference is centered around the theme of 'New Agendas for a New Era.' Following a keynote session, with addresses from the Minister for Foreign Affairs Senator the Hon Marise Payne, the Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs Senator the Hon Penny Wong and AIIA National President and former Director General of the Office of National Assessments Allan Gyngell Australia’s leading international affairs experts will present on three panels:

Masterclasses:
The 2019 National Conference will be preceded by masterclasses for young professionals and tertiary students between the ages of 18 and 40. The 2019 masterclasses will be held on Sunday 13 October 2019 with the support of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Four masterclass sessions are available:

If you are a student or young professional (age 18-40) who has purchased a ticket to the main conference event on Monday 14 October, you are eligible to apply for a place in one of our Masterclass sessions held Sunday 13th October at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Once you have purchased a conference ticket, please email masterclass@internationalaffairs.org.au with your CV and statement of claims to be considered by the selection committee. Consider in your application which Masterclass session you wish to attend; what perspectives you may bring; and what you hope to gain from the session.
Applications to attend a Masterclass session will close Friday 20th September, and successful candidates will be notified the following week. Please note there are a limited number of positions, and therefore not all candidates may be successful. Only those who are registered to attend the conference are eligible to be considered a place in the Masterclass sessions and only one session may be attended.
Some universities and employers have reserved places in the masterclasses for their students and staff. Before you apply, you may wish to check with your university or employer to see if you might be eligible for one of these places.
